At Maple Tree Primary School, we encourage all children to develop an awareness of environmental topics in the classroom that can impact our world. We provide children with an opportunity to take leadership of environmental issues in our school and local community.
The Eco Warriors meet regularly to discuss current issues such as energy, water, waste, litter, global perspectives, healthy living, school ground, biodiversity etc
Our Eco-Warriors are:
- Year 1 - Sam, Ella
- Year 2 - Isaac, Olive
- Year 3 - Ronnie, Sophia
- Year 4 - Frank, Lottie
- Year 5 - Krystal, Charlie, Lottie, Ennis
- Year 6 - Tommy, Tyler
Earlier in the year the eco-warriors took a walk around the school grounds to identify suitable places to hang 6 new bird boxes. They have been up for a couple of months now and we are hopeful that we will soon see them used as nests. Next month, on June 5th, it is World Environment Day, and the eco-warriors will be helping to plan some ways in which the school can celebrate this!
